The building on Hammfelddamm in Neuss, which had previously been used as an office building, was converted for future training and administrative purposes.
An essential part of the modernization was the upgrading of the entrance area with the adjoining two-storey foyer as requested by the owner. After demolishing the previously low, gloomy canopy with adjoining vestibule, a spacious, light and airy two-storey entrance area with a new barrier-free ramp system was created.
The striking, triangular air space was to attract the attention of visitors with a light sculpture. It therefore made sense to use the theme of the tooth as the basis for the design.
The shape of a molar was broken down into linear elements, which were then translated into specific rod lengths available from the Ligeo construction kit.
The finished light sculpture now adorns the entrance hall as an abstract chandelier. The functional lighting is based on a linear track system with DALI bus function, in which various spots, wallwashers and downlights can be individually controlled in lighting scenes.
The adjoining conference room, the former canteen of the high-rise building, is equipped with round, diffuse luminaires that together form a roof of light in the faceted coffered ceiling.
