The architect of the building, Prof. Dr. Dirk Henning Braun, writes about the building: With scientific support from the Chair of Building Technology at RWTH Aachen University, the Reallabor is investigating a series of research questions in the area of tension between new technological influences on the design of architectures of the future. In recent years, research questions such as BEEM, the bidirectional real-time energy management (BEEM) or ATS, the development of an adaptive textile skin (ATS) and the follow-up project DATEF, a demonstrator of adaptive textile façades, have been investigated and tested.
