Chapel St. Maria Aegyptica "Muschelkapelle", Bruehl Germany

The Chapel of St. Maria Aegyptica in the Falkenlustbusch, also known simply as the "Shell Chapel" because of its opulent decoration with minerals, shells, snail shells and corals, is part of the World Heritage Site of Augustusburg Castle in Brühl. It was consecrated in 1740 and was probably planned by the famous rococo architect François de Cuvilliés. After years of restoration, we were able to conceive a minimalist lighting concept to bring out the essential building details in the interior in such a way that, exclusively during the day, visitors in the park can also view the richly decorated interior from the outside. The lighting system runs automatically all year round via a DALI bus.
