GEYSIR-INFORMATION CENTER, ANDERNACH

The cold-water geyser near Andernach in the Eifel is the largest in the world and shoots rhythmically up to 60 m into the air at 35 bar. The town of Andernach has now made this natural spectacle scientifically and informatively accessible to visitors with the newly built Geysir Experience Centre. With its crystalline structures, the building is reminiscent of a split stone in the volcanic environment. The light art concept is intended to illustrate the pressurised cold water within the rock. Therefore, all glazed openings in the building envelope are illuminated in blue from the inside. The natural stone façade is "split" in several places. Here, blue LED lines behind the façade create the impression of a deeper layer of water.
